"Whether you come to educate yourself, or simply to vegetate, you'll want to stay at the Mariposa Ranch Bed and Breakfast, a verdant 100-acre spread about 10 miles outside of town. These are several B&B's in the area-as there seem to be these days in any wide sport in the road where some heir was smart enough not to raze the house he inherited from Grandma. But here you can choose from a restored 1850's Texas Ranger log cabin with a sleeping loft: a renovated farmhouse (best for families, as it has three bedrooms); an early 19th Century Greek revival home containing two suites: a cozy honeymoon cottage; or airy rooms in the main manor." "Breakfast is ample and rib sticking: Fresh
fruit and fruit juice, scrambles, hash browns, sausage, and pancakes was
one morning's menu. Between meals and naps, there's a seemingly
endless array of ranch dongs to play with, one of which - a border
collie named "Queenie" - was tirelessly obsessive compulsive when it
came to stick fetching. You could easily wile away a weekend on
the capacious front porch watching the leaves or russet, red, and gold
in the fall." "A romantic and historic getaway with warm hospitality and country elegance." -- Southern Living Magazine.
"We are sad that we only got to spend a short time here and were not able to form the same bond with the dogs as our predecessors. Alas, we had NO porch dog and felt somewhat slighted. Maybe next time we'll bring dog treats to entice them!" -- K.D., Galveston, TX "A wonderful weekend full of wonderful food,
friendship, laughter, and some heavenly ecstasy!" "We enjoyed the dogs! It's especially nice when
your room comes complete with private porch and porch dog!" Back to top - Check Availability - Site Map Mariposa Ranch Bed and Breakfast |
